When I was a punk-ass kid growing up in the country, we had one library and not one new book there. All the books were donated from at least twenty years before I was born. What’s your writing process like?  Are you a plotter or a pantser?

I like E.L. Doctorow's line that writing a novel is like driving at night; you can only see as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way.  I start out with character and a general idea of what I want to happen, but most of the story takes shape as I go ( Read more... )
